Michael Van De Noort MEng

DPhil Student

COLLEGE: St Catherine's College

Biography

Michael is undertaking his DPhil as part of the CDT in Gas Turbine Aerodynamics, having previously earned his Master’s in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford and a Master of Research degree from the University of Cambridge.

His current research focused on the improving cooling systems in modern aeroengine turbines, specifically through the application of Quasi-Transpiration cooling.

Michael specialises in the development of low order, rapid solver flow networks which predict airflow distributions through large and complex cooling systems.

Research Interests

• Turbine Cooling
• Heat Transfer
• Coolant Migration
