Oxford Thermofluids Institute | Research - Flagships: ExCITE

External Component Integration of Technologies for Engines (ExCITE)

The goal of the ExCITE project is to develop further understanding of the flow and temperature conditions after engine shutdown, particularly in the zone between the core and bypass duct. In collaboration with Rolls-Royce, this £500,000 has successfully developed an experimental facility that replicates engine shutdown thermal boundary conditions. The results from this facility have been used to validate a CFD prediction methodology. Novel heat transfer measurement techniques have also been developed as part of this program.
