Opening the OTI hangar doors at Spotlight: A Look Inside Sustainable Aviation’s Future

Our OTI researcher Dr Connor O’Pray and PhD student Adelaida Jimenez-Villarejo Diaz will be presenting at this year’s Spotlight – Illuminating Engineering in Oxford, a public event organised by the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford, that brings engineering research to a wider audience. As we open our doors to the public, we’re excited to share some of the ideas and innovations shaping the future of sustainable aviation.

Connor will deliver a talk titled “Hotter Engines, Cooler Planet: The Path to Net Zero Aviation”, exploring the role of thermal management in reducing aviation emissions.

Adelaida, alongside Dr Ashley van Bruygom (Loughborough University), will introduce key themes from the EPSRC Programme Grant Making Hydrogen Work in Zero Carbon Jet Engines. Their joint talk, “Flying into the future: can hydrogen get us there?”, highlights both the potential of hydrogen as a sustainable aviation fuel and the power of collaboration between institutions and specialisms in tackling complex engineering challenges.
