Women in Sustainable Aviation Innovation - Oxford Thermofluids Institute event, University of Oxford

Women in Sustainable Aviation

Careers & New Technologies

4th December 2026 · Somerville College, Oxford

Join us for a day bringing together women working across sustainable aviation, from established researchers and industry professionals to those at the beginning of their careers.

The morning will give us the opportunity to hear from women working in sustainable aviation, learn about their work and experiences, and explore their perspectives on the future of the field and careers within it. Particular attention will be given to women contributing to advances in hydrogen and cryogenic fuel technologies for aviation.

In the afternoon, the spotlight will turn to emerging talent with our “Beat the Bell” competition. Participants will have just five minutes to present their thesis, research paper, or latest work in an engaging and accessible way. The session will provide an opportunity to showcase ongoing work, practise communicating complex ideas concisely, and hear from researchers and professionals working across different areas of aerospace and sustainable aviation.

Bringing together innovation, careers and new technologies, the day will create an informal space to exchange ideas, discover work taking place across the field, and connect with others interested in the future of sustainable aviation.

Stay tuned — registration details, the full programme and our speaker line-up will be announced soon.
