Oxford Thermofluids Institute’s Dr. Neil Ashton is launching a public lecture series, for non-academics to gain insights into research at Oxford! Neil is organising this series under the banner of the Oxford University’s Sparks LIVE talks. Having spent 5 months working as a visiting scholar at NASA Ames Research Centre in 2016, he was keen to launch this exciting series with at talk about technology advances in aviation at NASA
The first public lecture in this series will be given by Dr. Jaiwon Shin, associate administrator for NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate.
Referring to this lecture series, Neil says “We wanted to create a public lecture series that allows non-academics to see the sort of research that is being undertaken at the university, as well as some of the companies and organisations that we work closely with. This is the first event in a series of talks, showcasing the exciting research being carried out at the university.”
Neil and his colleagues at Oxford Thermofluids Institute are collaborating with NASA on many aspects of aviation. In particular, Neil’s expertise in state of the art computational aerodynamics of aircraft and cars, has strong synergies with the topic of Dr. Shin’s talk.
We are looking forward to many engaging lectures in this series!
