The  £18.1 Million Innovate UK and Rolls Royce funded SILOET 2: High Temperature Turbine Technology and Demonstration project is led by Rolls Royce and brings together experts from the Universities of Oxford, Swansea & West Wales and Cambridge.

The project aims to develop turbine technologies for future civil aerospace gas turbine engines, with potential wider benefits of exploitation in gas turbines for other market sectors.

New technologies will help reduce fuel consumption and resultant CO2 emissions, and improve component life and life predictions.

Fundamental and applied research will be pulled through to representative engine components for tests in rigs and full system testing in a high temperature demonstrator engine.
