Dr Priyanka Dhopade from OTI is excited to tell us about the inaugural Women in Engineering Symposium at the Dept of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. This event coordinated by Dr Dhopade, was held on the 1st May and arranged by the Women in Engineering Oxford network.

The aims of the day included networking, discussions on gender equity, presenting research ideas and finding constructive ways forward.

With over 60 attendees ranging from undergraduates, postgraduates and research staff, the Symposium heard inspiring talks from the Head of Diversity & Equality (MPLS) Helen Byrne, Dr Fatumina Abukar (UCL), Rachel Gittens (Arup), Dr Barnali Ghosh (Mott MacDonald).

These were followed by fascinating poster presentations by DPhil students and research staff, chaired by Dr Christelle Abadie. In the evening, they hosted a fantastic networking session over drinks and dinner at Trinity College, Oxford.

Women in Engineering Oxford network would like to thank the Dept of Engineering Science for funding this incredible opportunity to bring together a diverse group of women.
