Biography

I graduated in June 2008 from The University of Queesnland, Australia with Bachelor of Engineering (Hons I) and Bachelor of Science degrees. My final year engineering thesis was concerned with the development of the internal flowpath for a dual-mode Mach 5 scramjet engine using quasi-1D cycle analysis. I began a PhD at the Centre for Hypersonics at The University of Queensland under the supervision of Prof. Michael Smart and Prof. David Mee. My thesis, titled ‘An Experimental Investigation of an Airframe Integrated Three-Dimensional Scramjet Engine at a Mach 10 Flight condition’, investigated the influence of airframe integration on the performance of an airframe integrated scramjet through the measurement of internal pressure distributions and the direct measurement of the net lift, thrust and pitching moment using a three-component stress wave force balance.

Following submission of my thesis at the end of 2013, I took a short break before joining the Osney Thermofluids Laboratory in August 2014 as a post-doctoral researcher. Since that time I have worked alongside Prof. Matthew McGilvray on the development and commissioning of the Oxford High Density Tunnel and the T6 Stalker Tunnel.

Outside of work, rock climbing is my great passion and, despite the notoriously bad UK weather, I’m typically out of Oxford on most weekends travelling. Since moving to the UK I’ve also enjoyed a number of climbing trips to mainland Europe, including south Spain, the Verdon Gorge in south France and the spectacular Dolomite mountains in Northern Italy.
